There was a buzz about being able to make a man fly all throughout the 1970s and early 80s. Not just fly, but fly without the confines of an airplane. The one bit of all this that stands out the most for me was a Jet Pack used in the Six Million Dollar Man episodes. A real jet working jet pack, though limited, it triggered all sorts of imaginative possibilities for me. A dedication or homage of sorts was in order. Thus came to be the Bot Shop Rocket Pack. Made of 99% copier parts, two ducted fan hobby motors, two four light LED plates and a single lithium Ion battery. Even the control lines and wiring where scavenged from the recycled copier units. The Docking Station was a bit of an after thought for me. I figured, if a person were to wear one of these Rocket Packs, where would they recharge/refuel it? Thus the Docking Station was born. The two works are meant to go hand in hand, but due to the ambiguity of the titles I chose, they can and do show well individually.
